The changing world (220) Jan 1999

Jan 1st Over the New Years Eve we has Rob, Christine, Jane, Deb's friend and Grandad overnight. Braithwaites here. Owen Horton from South Africa stayed overnight.
nd      With Deb to Brentford. £1600 spent on G3 Mac, 17" screen, scanner and hard drive mostly for Deb. Gough hat trick in Ashes, Sydney.
rd       Led for SC Ipet 4, Millennium resolution. Had sermon before hymns as elders want to encourage promptness in an unpunctual congregation. Prayer meeting evening. Rachel took her granddad back.
th      Walked bt the Thames at Henley before Linette martin's funeral at march parish church. Over 100 there. Deidre Ducker and Sylvester Jacobs spoke. Joy's reading and a Nigerian woman's tribute brought tears. Linette wanted all traditions in the liturgy and that included incense. Why does it pong so? I said I'd have a cigar smoked at my graveside. About twenty at the grave half of whom came for refreshments at the house.
th       Visited my old shopped the health centre. Starving Marvins for lunch.
th       Katy back to school but no Metro for her. It is in for repair. Applied to pay off the mortgage. Housegroup here included Cath Benton. David and Rachel to another group. Deb back to college but missing the Skiotis twins. Hottest London January day for 150 years.

th      Lunchtime enjoyed a savanna gifted by Elliott. Katy to new orchestra.
th      The boss told me to recruit Theresa as staff. She would not have been my choice. Very rough and ready mother to three teenage boys ask with different fathers one of whom pay a penny and one denies paternity though his parents are happy to be grandparents.
th      Took staff to lunch to mark Sabine's leaving. Metro in for repair again so katy to cello lesson by bus. Enjoying Brown's tobacco from Sandwich, my favourite.
th       Last day for Sabine. dale taken into care as his mother's flat is filthy. This despite all the help she has had from church to look after it. He was eventually put with Asian Muslim foster parents before adoption.
th       Big shock at session. Lawlers may want to leave and Constables to go in June. Trepidation.
th        Terry Seaber lad for SC on spiritual warfare. Again, sermon before singing.

th        Took Rachel's Fiat to work as she was in Ealing hospital for wisdom teeth extraction. To Deb's college and met her tutor who says she is top of her year, all meets except one distinction and a pass from one lecturer who never gives merits.
st         Dr Sundera tells me to slim and exercise more.
nd        WE Mohammed's last day and he bought us biscuit tin.
rd          Took Deb to draw the outside of St Johns.
