1. Barry Lyndon - Stanley Kubrick
Beautiful cinematography. Amazing shooting by candlelight. The eponymous rogue of the title has few redeeming features save for determination and fatherly affection. His despicable character's unattractiveness is exceeded only by the class ridden Georgian society. Long and slow - very slow at time but it stimulates varied strong emotion in the viewer. Great cinema. It is a pity that O'Neal sounds like he has come from America not Ireland.
