Diary w/e May 4

Sun 28 Apr
New adult Sunday School series on How to read the Bible. Baptism of Sophie Lazaretti Bull whose mother is from Brazil and father from Norway. Levy preached of the death of John the Baptist. Philips to lunch. He is still convalescing after heart surgery six months ago because of a chronic undiagnosed infection. At Harmonsworth IRC I had only two detainees from Nigeria and India. They complain that locked wings are preventing access to the chapel. I preached on Jesus must rise - John's comment about seeing the empty tomb.

Mon 29 Apr
Deb had to wait an hour past her appointment time at Eastmead Surgery then the doctor neither introduced herself nor examined the tonsils merely referring her to ENT. Her throat has eased a little,

Tue 30 Apr
Did still off work with tonsillitis. ELT excellent from PL on No-one knows the hour. Very evangelistic.

Wed 1 May
I hosted U3A current affairs group on Extinction Rebellion. No-one agreed with their method of protest but I was the only one wanting the reintroduction of water cannon. Some of us had doubts that climate change is anthropogenic and most agreed that there is not much that can be done about it. The protesters proposals are unworthy of serious consideration as they are totally impractical. I asked how many protesters have given up travel by car.
Over 30 at our monthly prayer meeting Good praying all together and on small groups.

Thu 2 May
15 of us had dinner at Maxim's Chinese restaurant, Hazel's that for those of us who help look after her, all but four being friends from IPC.

Fri 3 May
Tired having stayed up for local elections where all parties down except Lib Dems who should not think this would be the same in a general election because they are Remainers.

Sat 4 May
Breakfast in cafe then Bible study and bookstall. The Muslims want meetings for mutual understanding, their mosque and our church.
