The changing world (32) Dec 1974

Dec 1st - took two of my finishing students home and preached for Ayuba (Job) at Isge.
   2nd - Struggled with Hodo our labourer to change a landrover tyre and repair a puncture. To Fadagwe to tell the church their resident missionary is to be moved.
   3rd trucked up the hills to Guduf with Daniel Gula.
   4th Full EBS class at Gwoza then Gula's Christmas party.
   5th met Keith Black at Pulka and went together to see the local CBM missionary at Gava.
   6th To Madagali with pastor Zakka and talked with three EYN pastors and the CBM missionary.
   7th David sick in the Landrover as we went to meet CBM, Basle and Wycliffe missionaries at Gulak.
   8th preached at Limankara Hausa in the morning and Gwoza English in the evening.
   9th - Katy nausea and D avid still vomiting.
   10th Katy took David to Gwoza hospital No doctor. Nurses gave oral medicines. Not much use for a vomiting child. I climbed up to Ngoshe and bought the church land for a dispensary.
   11th medical consultations the radio with Dr Elizabeth Burns at Molai concerning David.Vomiting but not dehydrated. Employed a new night watchman.
   12th Packing for the plateau.
   13th drove 415 miles to Jos.
   14th shopping in Jos.
   15th tour church Hausa service. Zoo in the afternoon. Evening Katy went to St Piran's, Anglican, their carol service.
   16h shopped then to Vom and dinner with Carlings.
   17th breakfast with jean Bush. Discussed dispensary plans with Ian Rathbone.
   18th spoke about Limankara at church prayer meeting.19th, 20th It is evident that Vom staff are not happy with the present leadership from Davids Carling and Calcott.
22ng did Hausa lessons and carols service.
   25th David Carling preached. Such and presents for all at Thomases.
   28th matron's tea and farewell to Mama Tabitha retiring from looking after the midwifes' hostel. She was a freed slave from the Lucy Kumm Freed Slaves Home one of SUM's first endeavours in Lokoja over 60 years ago.
   Dec 30th moved to Jos.
   31st shipping and packing to drive back to Borno.
