Diary w/e 9 Dec 17

Sun 3 Dec

Sunday a great day. In the morning a teenage Iranian convert from Islam baptised then Chris Roberts excellent on Hebrews 1, Christ superior to angels. Brave to quote the Athanasian and Owen. In the evening Paul's excellent on Num 5&6. Fine exegesis, christocentric and pointed application.Thankful and challenged.

Mon 4 Dec

Great evening with best friends, the Larsons, here for dinner.

Tues 5 Dec

Nearly finished the Christmas cards. Letters emailed last month. I gave the second part of my Luther talk at U3A. IPC session, always encouraging and my son in law is an excellent chauffeur, one of our four new elders.

Wed 6 Dec

U3A current affairs at our house on funding higher education. I was one of a privileged few of my generation who had grants (means tested) and no fees. As ever encouraging church monthly prayer.

Th 7 Dec

Ealing Hospital's Moorfield''s eye clinic for injection into my eye to prevent increased vision loss. The Nigerian nurse remembered me and Hausa conversation resumed. Staff from England, Ukraine, Cameroon, Portugal and Philippines too.Injected into left eye. Anticipation worse than the needle. Now still in the hospital but for a pastoral visit to a sick church member. Our member has dementia developing but was very alert and bright.

Evening I spoke to our church youth group, Route 66, on the role of women in the church - what complementarian means.

Fri 8 Dec

Christmas lunch for members of the U3A groups I convene at the excellent Pillars Restaurant run by the catering students of our local University of West London. Good food and company. Happy afternoon. New blinds fitted in main room. Rachel and family here with Elissa's piano lesson from Grandma and Auntie Debbie's pizza for dinner.

Sat 9 Dec

Some Christmas shopping at Waitrose then Katy drove to Hauxton to celebrate eldest granddaughter Bethany's 17th. Great Chinese takeaway dinner. Quiet clear cold road home as low as -1C. Debbie surprised us with illuminations outside and the tree inside.
