Winehouse 'on road to recovery'

BBC says, "Singer Amy Winehouse is "on the road to recovery" after being treated for drug addiction in rehab, her mother Janis has told GMTV. She told the ITV breakfast show: "Amy's coming back, she's definitely on the road back." Winehouse, who scooped five Grammy awards on Sunday, was unable to attend the Los Angeles ceremony because her visa was not agreed in time. Mrs Winehouse said it was for the best her daughter did not end up going. "I think it would have been too much for her because all of the travelling and flying there," she said. "I mean seeing what the Grammys were like, I thought if Amy were there, she'd be a little girl lost in it," she added. The singer, who had already agreed to sing at the ceremony, had her performance beamed to California through a satellite link-up. She's a lot healthier at the minute, she's a lot happier "As you saw, she looks good. She's on the road to recovery," said Mrs Winehouse. Last month Winehouse checked into rehab after a film of the singer apparently smoking a crack pipe emerged. Mrs Winehouse admitted the whole family had feared for her health. "She was sort of with it but not with it. She's got a solid family and we're all there for her," she said. "I was helpless because there was nothing I could do. Amy had to do it for Amy and that's the way it is."

Amy has a very sensible caring mother. We trust Amy does not become to jazz singing what Best was to football, a waste of talent through lack of self discipline.
