Giving - christiansquoting.org.uk

My church welcomes all denominations, but mainly we prefer tens and twenties.

When we place our contribution in the collection plate, we are not giving to the Lord; we are just taking our hands off that which belongs to Him.

The world says, The more you take, the more you have. Christ says, the more you give, the more you are. Frederick Buechner

Avarice, greed, concupiscence and so forth are all based on the mathematical truism that the more you get, the more you have. The remark of Jesus that it is more blessed to give than to receive is based on the human truth that the more you give away in love, the more you are. It is not just for the sake of other people that Jesus tells us to give rather than get, but for our own sakes too. Frederick Buechner

Would the Congregation please note that the bowl at the back of the Church, labeled "For The Sick", is for monetary donations only. Churchdown Parish Magazine

Real generosity is doing something nice for someone who will never find it out. -Frank A. Clark

There is no happiness in having or in getting, but only in giving.--Henry Drummond

Not he who has much is rich, but he who gives much. -Erich Fromm

If our expenditure on comforts, luxuries, amusements, etc., is up to the standard common among those with the same income as our own, we are probably giving away too little. If our charities do not at all pinch or hamper us, I should say they are too small. There ought to be things we should like to do and cannot because our charitable expenditure excludes them. C.S. Lewis

Feel for others--in your pocket. Charles Haddon Spurgeon

The excellence of a gift lies in its appropriateness rather than in its value.-- Charles Dudley Warner
