Foreign festivals

On my way to work this morning I saw Brent advertises a Diwali Fireworks Display in Barham Park on Nov 5th. Could someone inform them as to the history of England?

I also read that in USA, candy sales are greatest at Halloween. I do not know if that is inclusive of chocolate. Here I know chocolate sales peak at Easter. But this confirms for me the commercial motive behind this awful American import.
