Fireworks

Just back from Kabul I find it was quieter there than in Ealing. The reason is Diwali fireworks. Thankfully I have avoided the run up to this festival but now have to endure at least two more weeks of noise up to and past Nov 5. The Gazette informs me the police lifted the 11pm ban on the noise for yesterday allowing it until 1am. Certainly at 11pm it sounded more like the Somme than Perivale. Quite frankly I find this is the worst time of the year to live here. I am not against fireworks but against loud noises late at night that frighten small children and animals and disturb the sleep of adults. New Year should IMO be the only night the curfew is extended to 1 am. Diwali and Nov 5 do not merit it.
