Pray for kidnapped Nigerian pastor

Pastor Jen (pictured) and his driver were on their way to a church seminar in central Nigeria on Friday when they were ambushed on the road from Jos to Abuja. Yohanna Maina, who was driving, says that armed Fulani militants stopped their car by shooting at it on the Kafanchan-Kwoi-Bwari highway near Jere. Please pray for the safe return of Pastor Jen Tivkaa Moses who has not been seen since. Yohanna said Pastor Jen was praying loudly as they were led into the bush at gunpoint – despite the fact his captors were beating and threatening to kill him unless he stopped praying. His kidnappers have since reportedly demanded a 1 million naira (£2,100) ransom. The driver was held for several hours until his captors realised he’d been injured in the ambush and let him go. Pastor Jen is director of the Christian Education Department of the Evangelical Church Winning All. ‘He’s a man of prayer and strong faith, and I am convinced that God will see him through this terrible ordeal,’ says Yohanna.  Please stand with Christians in Jos who are praying for Pastor Jen’s safe return. Ask Him to comfort Jen and his family. Ask God to heal Yohanna and help him recover from his ordeal. Pray that the Nigerian authorities will make concerted efforts to clamp down on militant activity around Jos. Pray that God will fill His people in the area with fresh faith and courage to withstand persecution. (Source: Morning Star News) UPDATE Thank God for the release of our sister, Zhang Xiuhong, the accountant of Huoshi Church in Guiyang, southwest China. She had been detained for more than two years after being falsely convicted of ‘illegal business operations’. Her original five-year sentence was reduced on appeal to three years’ imprisonment with a five-year probation. Thank God that she says her ordeal has only strengthened her faith: she writes that she ‘enjoyed the bounty of grace because of my trust in the Lord who called me and brought me unspeakable glory and joy’.
