Hospital diary 14 Aug 17

03:16
In the words of Mr Grumpy himself, 'I do not believe it'. Nurse tells me I am not due until the afternoon list as despite no warfarin my INR is not as they may want it. I think I must pass from angry to fatalistic. No. Wrong religion. Providencialistic. Or resigned. Back to expecting nothing so one cannot be disappointed.

04:25
Notice here of the prayers of friends is a great encouragement.
8:18

The first London hospital I was inpatient was Ealing about 15 years ago with cellulitis. Ealing was Indians, patients and staff. Ate curry as the English catering was very poor. Eight years ago I had four or five nights in Hammersmith. I counted over 20 nationalities/ethnicities among the stall, cleaners to consultants. Hammersmith is the world, staff and patients. My experience here and the adjoining St Marks is nurses mainly from Philippines and Kerala, India. I have seen the odd one from Afghanistan, Napal, Sierra Leone, Morocco, Cyprus, Romania, Sri Lanka, Goa, Bangladesh, Spain, Ghana, Kenya, Switzerland, Ivory Coast Jamaica, USA, plenty from Ireland and even a few from England. There have been other places of origin which I have forgotten. Catering is contracted out and is much improved with a choice of British, halal, veggie, vegan, Caribbean or Kosher.

10:19 The phlebotomist says the lab may not tell cardiology the INR until 2pm or later which may account for the poor communication with this impatient. (not a serendipity autocorrect) At present having legs dressed.

14:20
Cardiology registrar says my blood is now OK so I await the call for angiogram.

16:22 Angiogram done. No narrowing of arteries so what has caused the heart failure? I await a verdict.

19:23 Katy, Bethany and Hannah visited. Report from cath lab still awaited.
