Paying to prove who you are

It is bad enough that the government considers us all guilty of money laundering until we prove our innocence without the banks having such non-standardised procedures to verify identity. Booby prize goes to Metrobank who insist on verified copies of originals and their verification I was told, must be by the Post Office at a cost to me of £7.40. As a professional man who kindly verifies passport free of charge I particularly resent both the charge and the fact that the minister of my church is not deemed trustworthy enough to verify for these jobsworths.
